Amity Students Display Creative Excellence at GDC–2026 Fashion Showcase

Lucknow: Ready to step into the world of fashion, the final-year students of the Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT), Amity University Lucknow Campus, dazzled the ramp with their unique concepts and clothing designs at the much-anticipated Graduation Design Collection (GDC)–2026. The event provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase their creativity, assess their preparedness, and demonstrate their potential before entering the professional world.

To evaluate the creative abilities and design skills of these aspiring fashion professionals, ASFT organized this fashion show-cum-design competition centered around innovative garments created by the final semester students.

The event was inaugurated by Wing Commander Dr. Anil Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor, Amity University Lucknow Campus, along with Prof. Pooja Verma, Amity School of Fashion Technology.
Prof. (Dr.) Anil Vashisht, Pro Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh Lucknow Campus  also graced the occasion.

Parents of the participating students were the special guests of the event, as they were the first to witness and appreciate the professional growth and creative journey of their wards as emerging fashion designers.
Prof. Pooja Verma welcomed the guests and briefed them about the design collection process. She remarked, “Graduation Design Collection is a signature event that allows graduating students to present their work before a live audience. It encourages them to conceptualize and produce original, creative garments and present them on stage.”

Addressing the students, Wing Commander Dr. Anil Kumar Tiwari said, “This event serves as a platform for students to showcase their talent and the skills acquired during their academic journey.” He further emphasized that the survival of an artist depends on creativity and advised students to secure copyrights for their work before presenting it publicly.

The panel of jury for GDC–2026 consisted of . Hina Arzoo and  Tushar Awasthi, freelance fashion designers, along with Ishita Agarwal, alumna of ASFT (Batch 2020).

The students developed individual themes to design an ensemble of four to five garments. The process began with market research and consumer identification, followed by the development of mood boards, color studies, and detailed exploration of fabrics, textures, silhouettes, styling, and trims—covering every aspect of garment design. After conceptualization, the garments were created and accessorized from head to toe to complete the ensemble collections.

Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Pooja Verma, Director, Amity School of Fashion Technology, and Shikhar Saxena, faculty member, the event was designed to showcase the students’ talent, creativity, and innovative skills acquired during their four-year design program. The event encapsulated their learning journey and provided a comprehensive platform for creative expression. In essence, the students experienced the complete process of fashion design—from “Concept to Construction to Consumer.”

To recognize and encourage the students’ efforts, various awards were presented to the designers for their collections.
